IGPA will be hosting Kent Redfield to speak about his contributions to the recently published new edition of Illinois Politics: A Citizens Guide, will present an overview of the major factors that have contributed to the evolving nature of Illinois politics.
Those factors include: dramatic changes in population and political demographics, the collapse of traditional political party politics, the shift toward candidate centered elections, legislative leaders taking on the function of political parties, the critical impact of political gerrymanders on legislative and congressional elections, the dominate impact of money, to “finally, the impact of interest groups and big donors on elections and policy (including the billionaire era).”
