NEW Leadership Illinois Alumna in Residence

NEW Leadership Illinois is seeking an alumna of the program to join our coordination team as the 2016 Alumna in Residence. The Alumna in Residence will have the unique opportunity to work with University of Illinois staff and state legislators to plan and execute the program. The Alumna in Residence will also act as a mentor to members of the 2016 NEW Leadership Illinois class. The Alumna in Residence will play an important role in helping students prepare for the mock press conference and mock hearing.

Applications will be accepted until Monday, February 15

Responsibilities

  • Be an active member of the 2016 NEW Leadership Illinois coordination team, which includes various event management tasks such as registration and set up, communication with speakers and presenters, etc
  • Attend and staff the 2016 NEW Leadership Illinois program taking place June 6-10, 2016
  • Reside in the residence hall with participants, staff, and legislators
  • Act as a mentor to 2016 participants. Help students prepare for the mock press conference and mock hearing
  • Attend monthly planning meetings via phone beginning in February 2016
  • Serve as a moderator during Q&A time with guest speakers
  • Create and manage an active social media plan for the NEWL Facebook account
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be an alumna of NEW Leadership Illinois (any year)
  • Commitment to the mission of NEW Leadership Illinois
  • Strong skills in public speaking and organization
  • Has demonstrated high levels of responsibility and reliability
  • Available to be in Chicago for entirety of program: June 6-10, 2016.

 

A monetary stipend  will be provided.
