IGPA's Anthony Lo Sasso named to Illinois Health Services Review Board

IGPA Professor Anthony LoSasso has been appointed by Gov. Bruce Rauner to the Illinois Health Services and Review Board. IHSRB oversees the Certificate of Need program for health care facilities in the state, among other important functions.

In the announcement of this appointment, the governor noted that Professor LoSasso’s “expansive knowledge in health policy will be foundational for the review board."

Professor Lo Sasso has been on the faculty in the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois-Chicago since 2004 and has been a member of the IGPA faculty since 2007. He received his BS and MA degrees in Economics from DePaul University and his PhD in Economics from Indiana University in 1996. He also has served as executive director of the American Society of Health Economists since 2012.

With this appointment, Professor LoSasso becomes the second permanent IGPA faculty member to be serving on a major state board at this time, joining Professor David Merriman, who serves on the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors.
