IGPA intern Thomas Dowling selected as 2018 Rhodes Scholar

IGPA's Wolff Intern, Thomas Dowling, has been selected as one of 32 U.S. students to receive the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, the oldest and most celebrated international scholarship in the world. The Rhodes Scholarship provides funding for two to three years of graduate studies at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. The Rhodes Trust says the scholarship value averages about $68,000 annually.

Thomas, who is from Chicago, is the first University of Illinois student to receive the scholarship since 1998. He is the U of I’s 10th Rhodes Scholar overall. Thomas was one of the 32 selected from a field of more than 860 U.S. students who were endorsed by their respective college or university. Thomas plans to pursue a Master's degree in public policy at Oxford.

Thomas also has received the Truman Scholarship, and was selected this fall as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's student laureate by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.
