NEW LeadershipTM is a non-partisan, week-long residential program for college women designed to increase women's representation in all elements of public life, including elected office. The program challenges our brightest students to think critically and creatively about public policy and encourages them to make a commitment to public leadership early in their careers.
NEW LeadershipTM Illinois is a joint initiative of the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois and the Conference of Women Legislators of the Illinois General Assembly. NEWLeadershipTM Illinois has been developed in partnership with the NEW Leadership Development Network established by the Center for American Women and Politics, a unit of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The network includes 14 states and the District of Columbia.
