Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor will receive the Paul H. Douglas Ethics in Government Award from the University of Illinois at a ceremony May 18 in Washington, D.C.
How is President Barack Obama doing and what lies ahead? Those are among the questions being asked as he approaches the end of his first 100 days as president and they are the subject of A Minute With Brian Gaines and William Bernhard, professors of political science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Gaines (left), a member of the IGPA faculty, is an expert in polling and public opinion and Bernhard’s expertise is in politics and markets. A Minute With... is produced by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's News Bureau.

IGPA, in coordination with the Union League Club of Chicago and the University of Illinois campuses in Chicago and Urbana-Champaign, will hold a half-day conference, titled "LIncoln's Illinois Today," on Wednesday, May 27 at the Union League Club, 65 W. Jackson Blvd., in Chicago.
The University of Illinois Flash Index, the first barometer of the state’s economy each month, dropped to 95.3 in March. The drop of one full point since February continues a steady decline since the financial crisis in August last year.
