The effects of the national economic downturn continue to be felt in Illinois, according to the University of Illinois Flash Index, which dropped to 100.6 in October, its lowest reading in more than four years.

The Flash Index, the first monthly barometer of economic activity in Illinois, was down from 101.1 in September, indicating Illinois is indeed being affected by the significant slowing in the national economy.
