The Fiscal Futures Project has published the first in a series of informational features to detail findings of the project's research and computer modeling of the Illinois state budget. "Fiscal Fallout" will provide information about findings from the project and commentary on the current and future condition of the state budget.
The Fiscal Futures Project, begun by IGPA in 2008, is designed to increase transparency of state budget information and to provide sufficient capacity to project fiscal demands and revenue streams into future.
The "Fiscal Fallout" series is intended to draw attention to the impact on future Illinois budgets of current choices. These informational features wil present findings from the Fiscal Futures Project in short, digestible portions that focus on one issue or finding at a time and refer readers to more detailed information.
The series, to be published at least once per month, will emphasize that looking just at the state's General Fund budget does not show the whole picture. There will be future pressures on the state budget, and the Fiscal Futures Project is designed to explore how those pressures will affect the state's fiscal condition.
