Samuel K. Gove

Samuel K. Gove is director emeritus of IGPA and professor emeritus in the Department of Political Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been on the staff of the Institute of Government and Public Affairs since 1950, and was director in 1967-1985. He also was director of the Master of Arts in Public Administration program in the Department of Political Science. He is a fellow in the National Academy of Public Administration.
Professor Gove's main interest is the study of the politics of state and local government, especially in Illinois. He also has an interest in the politics of higher education. He has been active in constitutional revision in Illinois.
He has served as a member or on the staff of many governmental study commissions. He was one of the founders of Illinois Issues and served as chairman of that magazine's board for over ten years. He directed the Legislative Staff Internship Program in Springfield for ten years.
