Dr. Hall's current research agenda is focused on documenting the processes behind patterns of and trends in segregation in emerging immigrant destinations. As part of this larger project, Hall is exploring how segregation and residential isolation shape the quality of immigrants' housing and neighborhoods, how it impacts their opportunities for employment, and how native-born Americans react to the arrival of immigrants in their communities.
Dr. Hall is also intensely interested in the role of legal status on Mexican immigrants' educational and economic success, the impact of high-skill immigration on Rust Belt cities, and on the consequences of local and national immigrant policies. His recent work has appeared in Demography, International Migration Review, Social Forces, Social Science Research, and Urban Studies.
