John Hartnett

John Hartnett joined IGPA after a 26-year career in state government in the field of labor relations During that time, he served as the state’s chief labor negotiator responsible for 17 collective bargaining agreements covering 45,000 employees with various unions including AFSCME, the Illinois Nurses Association, Teamsters and the Illinois Federation of Teachers.

John is a Senior Associate in the Office of Public Leadership and teaches a graduate course in public sector labor relations at the University of Illinois at Springfield.

John has also consulted with various employers in both the public and private sectors on labor matters and is a frequent speaker on negotiation and labor relations.
