John Browar
John Browar joined the Institute of Government and Public Affairs in 2005 after serving as a manager and teaching leadership for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 25 years. He works with the Office of Public Leadership Development to develop and teach leadership programs.
Browar coordinates leadership development programs for local government officials and an annual, week-long leadership institute for municipal clerks.
Browar believes that the extensive relationships with elected and appointed public officials makes IGPA a suitable place for him.
"In the Office of Public Leadership the never-ending goal is to identify concepts and instructional methods that successfully engage our partners in leadership development efforts," said Browar. "IGPA allows me an opportunity to engage public officials in efforts to be more effective leaders and reach their full leadership potential."
John Browar received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois and Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago, both in economics.
