Daniel P. McMillen

Dan McMillen is a professor of economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has held an appointment at IGPA since 2002.

"I am interested in policy issues affecting the Chicago metropolitan area. IGPA helps bring people with similar interests together," said McMillen. He said he sees IGPA "as a focal point for bringing faculty from diverse disciplines together to provide more general and complete policy recommendations issues affecting Illinois."

Professor McMillen’s research interests are urban economics, real estate, and applied econometrics. He is editor of the journal Regional and Urban Economics, and has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Urban Economics, the Journal of Economic Geography, Growth and Change, the Journal of Real Estate Literature, and the Journal of Housing Economics.

In 1998 and 1999 he served as the chair of the Department of Economics at Tulane University, where he had been a professor since 1994. In 1998, he was a research fellow for the Center for Urban Real Estate and Land Economics at the University of British Columbia.

McMillen received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 1987.
