IGPA Faculty Coffee Chat with Julian Reif & Team – Medicaid

IGPA invites you to our first faculty coffee chat of the semester on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 11 – 12 noon CT, virtually, on Zoom.

Dr. Julian Reif, will lead in the discussion, along with his fellow research team to speak on the fiscal implications for Illinois of the Medicaid provisions in the one Big Beautiful Bill.  As the largest health insurance program in the U.S. and a primary payer for nursing home care, Medicaid plays a critical role in long-term care financing. The broader implications of this role will be discussed.

Julian Reif is associate professor of Finance and Economics at the Gies College of Business at Illinois. He is also affiliated with the National Bureau of Economic Research, J-PAL North America, the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities, and the Institute of Government and Public Affairs. His research has been supported by J-PAL North America, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

His research team also includes David Merriman, Justin Markowski, and Aline Vandenbroeck.
