About

IGPA invites you to our next faculty coffee chat on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 11 – 12 noon CT, virtually, on Zoom.

E.J. Fagan will join us to speak about the issues that were most important to the Illinois General Assembly in 2025. The discussion will include the issues that received the most bill introductions, which bills advanced through the legislative process and what became law. He will also explore the issues highlighted by Governor Pritzker’s State of the State address and whether the legislature responded to the issues the Governor emphasized.

E.J. Fagan is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois Chicago, an affiliate of IGPA, and one of IGPA’s inaugural Data Hub researchers. This IGPA Data Hub project, the Illinois Policy Agendas Project, is ongoing and many findings are already published on IGPA’s website.

E.J. earned his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020. His research explores how political institutions process information and make decisions about public policy. His work focuses on the role of expert information, interest groups, and political parties in influencing decisions by policymakers, particularly in the U.S. Congress.
