New Perspectives on Health & Health Care Policy
A conference to bring together leading researchers in health care policy to present and discuss new perspectives on health and health care policy.
This conference will include:
- An address by James Heckman of the University of the University of Chicago, and winner of the 2000 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, on "Developmental Origins of Health."
- Presentations by David Cutler of Harvard University and Mark Pauly of the University of Pennsylvania on current health care reform and policy followed by a panel discussion.
- Presentations of research by: Laurence Baker, Stanford University Ken Chay, Brown University Leemore Dafny, Northwestern University James Hilliard, University of Georgia David Howard, Emory University Karen Norberg, Washington University in St. Louis Tomas Philipson, University of Chicago Heather Royer, University of California, Santa Barbara Mark Votruba, Case Western Reserve University.
Topics to be discussed include:
- The competitiveness of insurance markets
- Evaluations of new incentive based policies to improve individual health behavior
- Studies on the value of comparative effectiveness research
- The role of technology on health care costs and quality
- Lessons from the introduction of Medicare.
