Applications are now being accepted for IGPA's 2017-2018 Wolff Internship

The Institute of Government and Public Affairs has an opportunity for an undergraduate student looking for experience in public policy and public service.

IGPA's mission is to inject non-partisan, evidence-based information and analysis into the public policy conversation in Illinois. We translate that research and analysis for policymakers and the public through quality publications and events.

The Wolff Internship is a 12-month, paid opportunity at the Urbana-Champaign campus. Our intern is exposed to the many facets of public policy development with the goal of better preparing him/her for careers that include public or community service.

This is a 12-month program that begins in May or June 2017 and continues through the summer and the 2017-2018 academic year. The internship is only open to undergraduate students at the University of Illinois.

As the Wolff Intern, you will have no set daily routine. We will engage your talents to help us with projects that interest you and help us fulfill our research and public engagement mission. You may meet and interact with government officials and business leaders. You will work with the best social scientists at the University and will contribute to our public engagement efforts in many ways.

A competitive candidate will have strong communication and research skills, an interest in state and national politics and public policy, and demonstrated participation in the campus and/or local community. We're looking for someone with a strong work ethic, creativity, ideas, and enthusiasm.

Because this is a full-year opportunity, candidates who will not have sophomore, junior or first-semester senior standing to begin the 2017-2018 school year will not be considered. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and perspectives to apply. The internship is open to all, regardless of major.

TO APPLY: Send an email to that includes, as PDF attachments, 1) a cover letter that explains why you are interested in this internship and your interest in public policy and/or public service and 2) a current résumé. The application deadline is FRIDAY, MARCH 10, 2017. Candidates will be notified via reply email during the week of March 27th whether they have been selected to interview for the position, and interviews will be scheduled during the week of April 3rd. The position will be filled no later than April 14th. The starting date will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
