IGPA's Chris Mooney named president of State Politics and Policy Section of APSA

IGPA politics expert Christopher Z. Mooney was elected president of the State Politics and Policy Section of the American Political Science Association at its annual meeting in San Francisco over Labor Day weekend. Mooney, who served as director of IGPA, from August 2013 until July 2017, will serve a two-year term.

Mooney's election furthers his already deep association with the section. He founded and edited for 10 years the section’s journal, State Politics and Policy Quarterly, which, under his direction, grew into the premier scholarly journal for original research on state politics and policy. And in 2010, the section named its annual dissertation award in Chris’ honor.

Mooney joined IGPA in 2004. He has been a professor of political science at the University of Illinois at Springfield since 1999 and holds the W. Russell Arrington Professorship in State Politics at IGPA and UIS.

At the same meeting, IGPA professor emeritus James Kuklinski received the Hazel Gaudet Erskine Political Psychology Career Achievement Award by the Political Psychology Section of APSA. Read more about that award here.
